Privacy policy

We keep as little about you as possible. This is a draft and will be reviewed before public launch.

What we store

  • The display name you choose and the messages you post in a train community.
  • A random guest identifier and a private browser credential to protect your posts and limit spam. Clearing browser storage loses access to your previous guest posts.
  • Your assistance requests, responses and message reactions.
  • Private conversations and their messages, linked to the two participants' guest identities. Clearing browser storage loses access to these conversations.
  • Private reports and moderation decisions, and a blocked-passenger list stored only in your browser.
  • Staff account details supplied by the sign-in provider and administrator-assigned staff roles.

What we don't collect

  • Passengers don't need to share a PNR, ticket, phone number, email or government ID. Staff sign in with an account.

Who can see your messages

Messages, assistance requests, responses and reactions are public to anyone who opens that train and date. Reports and removed content are readable only by approved staff. Moderation decisions are recorded privately. Blocking hides a passenger only on your browser, not for other passengers.

Private conversation messages are accessible in the app only to their two participants using their private browser credentials. They are stored by SideBerth and are not end-to-end encrypted. Blocking also hides private conversations on this browser, but does not stop the other person from sending messages.
